Calcium is an essential mineral. Most of the body’s calcium is stored in the bones and teeth, where it contributes to their structure, and the rest circulates in the blood and is involved in normal muscle function, nerve signalling, blood clotting, and the normal function of digestive enzymes. Two products can both say “calcium” and differ in every detail that matters. The number that matters for comparison is the declared elemental calcium amount per serving — stated consistently in the same unit, usually milligrams (mg).
