Magnesium oxide

Across every form above, the pattern is the same: the name describes the compound, and the declared elemental magnesium — read from the Supplement Facts panel — describes the amount. Why magnesium form and elemental magnesium are different
The form and the elemental amount measure different things, and that difference is the whole reason form names can mislead. A product can list a large amount of a magnesium compound while delivering a smaller amount of elemental magnesium, and a product with a smaller-looking number can deliver more actual magnesium. The form name does not resolve that — the declared elemental figure does.

- Magnesium form / compound — the named form, such as magnesium glycinate or magnesium citrate. Some products list a single form; others list a blend of contributing forms.
- Elemental magnesium amount — the figure declared in the Supplement Facts panel, which is the actual magnesium the serving delivers. This is the number to use for comparison.
- Serving size — how many tablets, capsules, or grams the listed amounts refer to.
- Servings per container — how many servings the package holds, which sets the total elemental magnesium in the container.
- Other active ingredients — additional forms or compounds that may also contribute magnesium, plus any non-magnesium actives.
When all of these fields are present and clear, you have what you need to compare two products on equal terms. When a field is missing or ambiguous, the honest response is to flag the gap — not to fill it with an assumption.

Are similar names always the same?
