Magnesium for Sleep: What the Evidence Says and How to Compare Supplements

However, consumer attention is not evidence. Current evidence does not establish that magnesium glycinate is clinically proven superior for sleep, nor that it is inherently more calming, better absorbed, or better tolerated than other magnesium forms as an established outcome. Authoritative sources do not single out glycinate as the best magnesium for sleep.
The form name alone does not establish product quality or sleep effectiveness. Two products both labeled “magnesium glycinate” can differ in declared elemental magnesium, serving size, additional ingredients, manufacturer transparency, and documented testing. Magnesium supplements are not risk-free, and sleep marketing rarely mentions the safety context.
